Stumped

2 posts in this topic

I have a Mazda 626 1999 2.5 v6, says have misfire on cylinder #2. I changed plugs, checked that it was firing, compression check showed 200# psi in #2 and 4... Also sounds like there is a vacuum leak under the intake, I'm stumped. Wen looking in plug hole top of piston looks dirty compared to the others.. help......

If the spark plug wires look at all old and worn, I would suggest changing them first. NGK blue wires have a good reputation.

You can test for a vacuum leak by spraying carb cleaner around the suspected leak, listening to see if the idle rpm increases. That might be causing a misfire at low rpm, by making the mixture too lean.
