My Precious '84 Mazda 626 Slx.

Recommended Posts

Hey dudes, I guess its not the best looking '84 ever, but in South Africa, its kinda rare to find one like this. My father bought her back in '99 while it looked like a train wreck and he and I have built her up since then. She's fast and light on fuel as well. Since he passed on a few years back, I've been building it up further on a strict budget since I'm still on school (I've been driving since 9, illegally until 18, but nobody needs to know) and its just the love of my life. I'm trying to keep it mint and still sporty since I'm only 18 now. I know some of you will probably think I'm too young to know this car, but I've been around it all my life. So, I just need opinions on how it looks for now. Its still in progress. Any advice is much appreciated. Its an 1800 Carb, btw. But it runs perfectly against VVL's.

Good to see these things still running around in other parts of the world.

I've not seen too many with F8s.

At least there in south africa there were some good options for power up, you have the multi point injected FE and the FE DOHC. which are a *relatively* easy swap in. Would be a nice power up for a light car.

Looks in very good condition. There's not too many left but there are a few hotspots (between myself and another member 50KM away we have four of them). Chief's suggestions are great. I don't know how many options there are for engines where you are but most came with the FE here. The FE has a square cylinder that turbocharges very well. The standard carburetted FE can also be altered to take high levels of alcohol and with an assosciated timing advance is quite potent as well.
