  1. ok so i bought my 98 mazda 626 xl 4 cyl auto the air bags were deployed from bad air bag module. i removed driver and passenger air bag and now car will not start... when removing i removed my neg battery terminal then when both were removed i reconnected neg battery terminal and now its like the battery is completely dead no lights no sounds nothing.. any ideas?
  2. Hi all, I have a 2001 mazda 626 lx. Engine light came on Tuesday evening & when I plugged my scanner in it did not bring up a code. Had my boyfriend take it to autozone yesterday while I was at work & their scanner brought up code: P0421. They informed him that it was nothing serious & simply cleared it. I searched Google & found that it could be catalytic converter or o2 sensors? Cars drivability had not changed before or after engine light.   3. My little 1998 Mazda 626 2.0L (automatic), which just recently turned over 200k miles, died while I was driving on the freeway. There were no new vibrations, warning lights, noises, smoke or anything else indicating a problem immediately preceding the power loss. There was still a quarter tank of gas, the temperature was fine, the oil had been changed in the last 2 months and battery and alternator seem to be fine.   4. Hey, I'm back with more problems. So a few days ago I was driving around when all of a sudden my car started to misfire really bad at a red light. No rhyme or reason to it. I thought what then hell, slipped it into neutral, revved it a few times, and it went away. I thought nothing of it because my o2 sensor and coil pack needed replaced. I got home turned off the car. From there later that day I went to start it and same problem, same solution but this time it took a few more revs to go. This went on for a few days with my coil pack and o2 sensors on there way in.   5. I have a 2000 Mazda 626, 6L. It started with intermittent starting problems, then right before Thanksgiving it started, went down the road, died, wouldn't restart. I had it towed to my mechanic. He looked it over and said it was my Ignition computer. He could not get any assistance from Mazda so he researched it, sent it off to a company that rebuilds the computer. We did this and just found out that they say it is no good. I still have to pay the 350 since they tried, and owe the mechanic at least 100.   6. I have a 1992 V6 2.0ltr Cronos (626) that will now not start after it had the catalytic converter overheat. I have replaced the converter with a resonator and still it will not start or run. I have checked for spark and fuel & it has both of these. I have replaced the ECU as I thought it might have been that but still it would not start or run. I have pinned the diagnostic plug to see what error code/s come up but it would not show me. It is as if the computer has no power to it.   7. hey guys, been awhile since i've needed advice from here, but seems every winter my car likes to act up. went out to start my car and it started fine, ran for about 5 seconds then kinda fizzled out like it was out of gas (the gauge said empty). so i put a gallon gas in so i could get to the station, and it still won't start. still sounded like it had no gas, so i sprayed some ether and it had no reaction as if i didn't spray anything at all. checked the codes and got 4 long flashes a long pause then one short flash and that would just repeat, but im not sure what that means. haven'
  8. The car was struggling to start for a couple of weeks, but always came through and started for me. So, I put some fuel injector cleaner into the gas tank and after a couple of days, the engine would crank but not turn over. I let it rest for a day and tried it again with no luck. I tried it again today and it almost turned over. I popped the hood and found some water on my distributor cap, after opening the distributor cap the was a little pool of oil inside. Right now there are so many routes to go with this, so does anyone have any suggestions?
  9. Okay, here's the deal: I have a 2000 Mazda 626 with a 4 cylinder engine. It's an automatic. A few days ago, I was headed to town. There was some guy on my ass, so naturally I floored it. Set cruise control at about 65 or 70ish. But as I was driving, I suddenly started hearing a loud popping type noise.   10. Hey guys I just bought this car from my neighbor but it's been sitting for years. I got a new battery plugs and air filter for it. I tried kicking it over and it started for like a couple of seconds but then dies. I continually spray the air box with air cleaner and it does the same thing but won't stay running. I have been messing around with it for a day or 2 and it seems like it wants to go but something's holding it back.   11. car wouldn't start so I was checking connection and unplugged the coolant temp Sensor and the car started. I naturally thought the sensor was bad so I replaced it. The car started three or four times and then again wouldn't start. I left the sensor unplugged and the car starts. it doesn't run well but it runs. Car seems to be running rich. Is there a fuse that I'm missing. I still have to replace an o2 sensor but thats been defective for a long time.
  12. Hi, I'm new to this forum and to the 626 world, I just bought a 2000 with 100 K miles on it stick shift and I love it but, I parked it and came back to start it and it wont start. I can hear the fuel pump humming while I'm cranking only but I can't hear it when I put the ignition on ON pistion. I tried with a starting fluid and it will start for a a second and stalls, so its not getting gas. any help would be appreciated.

  14. just wondering if anybody has ever come across a leaking icm? ive always noticed the leak it must have been there for at least 2 years but i never really spent the time to find out the source until today. Smart me undid the mounting bolts and pulled it out to get a good view of this mysterious leak and sure enough thats exactly where its coming from. So i put everything back and now it wont start!!!! After a bit of researching im wondering if it could be the cause of the hesitation upon acceleration, erratic and rough shifting thats been going on for equally as long. Ideas anyone?????
  15. What have I done wrong? I decided to save some money and replace the intake manifold gasket myself. I took it apart and replaced the gasket. I think I got all the wiring and vacuum lines hooked up again. Now it won't even crank over. It was running fine except for the poor idle. Did I totally mess something up? It doesn't even try to crank. Total silence. The battery is not dead, I checked. It showed 12 volts even when an assistant turned the key.
