There is a strange knocking sound from the engine/trans-axle whenever I don't shift perfectly. Only noticeable when setting off or from 1st to 2nd and a bit from 2nd to 3rd. My mechanic told my to "Not bother with it" and that it's "Somewhere in the guts of the engine". I no longer use him and do almost all my servicing myself. I'm guessing it's a crankshaft bearing or balancer related. Any Input? I'm planning a re-ring so I'll have the bottom taken apart anyways. Thanks! -Luke
Hey Guys, well im having an issue. The other day i was driving home from work and car just shuts off completely, Although i did change out the battery and alternator . I also checked all spark and fuel , car will idle but with a bad knocking noise. Might be a rod bearing but not too sure . i do know that the issue is in cylinder 4 because i remove distributor wire and knocking stops. Havent been able to go in and have a look due to where i live .( not allowed to work on cars on parking property.) Any suggestions on what might be the issue.?? Anything helps. Thanks
This past October I bought my 2000 Mazda 626 LX V6 from my friend's cousin who had moved away. My friend had previously been driving it for about a month, but it was constantly overheating. Eventually he bought his new car and it stayed in his grandparents driveway 7 months until I was about to buy it. Their mechanic who'd worked on the car for years said it needed a new radiator, which he put in. Once I took it to emissions, I realized the check engine light was on and turns out it needed new O2 sensors. I knew it had been low on oil from sitting so many months plus nothing on the dipstick. So my father gave me a quart of oil (don't remember what kind). Right after I put it in, the engine started a rumbling/knocking noise. Shaking almost. It would settle down a little when I took off the breaks, but increased as I accelerated. I was able to drive it home which was 10 minutes away and to my friend's place 15 mins away with noise. Some say it needs a new engine, but I think it may be that oil we put in. Anything sound familiar?
Hello All, My Mazda seems to have a sort of knock whenever turn over a bump or into or out of a driveway, I thought it might be wheel bearings but mechanic said no. Also, is it typical of this car to have chatty lifters/valve, no loud at all just can hear them? Thanks Ken I'm sure more info is needed, new here so please bear with me. Mazda 626 LX 2.5L
