    I4 To V6 Klze Swap

    Hey guys I have a few questions about my Mazda 626 2002. 1) I want to swap out my i4 for a V6 KLZE and was wanting to make sure all the engine mounts would work just fine. 2) Is it possible to get engine harness and everything else needed to make the V6 work, without getting a donor car? Like maybe a Mazda Dealer Ship. (or does all the wiring already match, im gonna assume no) 3) I want to swap it to a manual transmission, but will my i4 trans work with the KLZE V6 for now? Thanks everyone, I plan to make an entire video on my swap and how to do it for Mazda 626 Lovers, but I just need to make sure this is all possible first. Alt+MAlt+N
  3. Hey guys, A little back story. My mom had a 2.0 1996 mazda 626 MTX since 1996. She was not the first owner, however the previous had the car for maybe a month or two. In 2015 I took the car for myself and became the new owner while she went and bought a mazda 6. The car is entirely stock other then the exhaust I put on that first year. We touched up the paint and I try to keep it as clean as possible. As of right now it has 260k miles on it, the lifters are tapping, burning and leaking oil, and smoke comes out the tail pipe on some start-ups or when i push it to 5k ya know lol. I have been waiting to buy a new car for the past year, but i love my 626 and wouldn't mind having both to keep my new car with low mileage. Since I like playing with cars and doing repairs on my own, I would like to attempt an engine swap with a buddy who is a bit more mechanically inclined then myself. So I have been doing extensive research so that I can formulate a plan of action before jumping into anything. First off I want to upgrade the I4 to a V6. Looking at the 5th gen 626's (looking at engines already in my year so the swap might be easier) I saw that they came with a 2.0L KF-ZE, 2.5L KL-DE, and a 2.5L KL-ZE. To my understanding the ZEs are Jspec and im not sure if I'd want to get a Japanese due to horror stories. So I think my choice would be the 2.5L KL-DE. (Any thoughts on this decision would be greatly appreciated) Now that I picked an Engine; I have some questions. Would I need to buy a whole new harness? Would I need custom mounts or can i just buy mounts for my same car but the v6 version? Would my current transmission be able to match with the v6. (I don't think so but I'm really just not sure). Any other things that I should consider to make this swap possible? Finally, I feel that since I'd be getting an engine that is already put in my car I would only need the engine, tranny, harness, and mounts. And that I wouldn't really have to get any custom parts? Am I correct here or am I just being too optimistic? I do not feel that it is a crazy swap or anything, I mostly want the experience and fulfillment of completing an engine swap along with being able to keep my baby alive and strong af, maybe even vip her lol. Also if anyone knows of this being done before that possibly have write-ups I'd love some links! I searched alot in the forums but couldn't find anything too concrete and step by step. Mostly just people saying theyre gonna do it and never reply or people just talking about the engines. Thank you guys in advance. Enjoy this pic of my baby aswell!
  4. Hello, My 626 decided to stop starting last friday when I was trying to head home from work. I have been trying to diagnose the issue on lunch over the past few days. The car wants to turn over but just cannot. I have found that i have good spark. So I started looking into the fuel system. I don't hear the fuel pump engage when I set the ignition to the ON position. I pulled the output tube off of the fuel filter, there was fuel in the line but it did't seem to have any pressure even though this was right after I cranked the engine. I cranked the engine again and there was no pressure coming out of the fuel filter. I couldn't get to the line in for the fuel filter yesterday. So I am thinking two things, either I have managed to completely kill a fuel filter or there is an issue with the fuel pump. I checked the fuel pump relay and it seems to be working just fine. The fuel filter seems relatively easy to change. I have heard two things about the fuel pump, either there is an access door behind or under the back seat or I have to drop the tank. I did run some injector cleaner through the fuel system a few weeks ago. Does it seem like I am on the right track? Also, is there an access panel for the 2002 626 for fuel pump work? Does anyone know of anything else that might be causing this issue? Thanks, Chris
  5. Hello Everyone, I'm new to the forums and was thinking about swapping my 1998 Mazda 626 2.0 i4 FS-DE to a 2.5 v6 KLZE. I've been doing some extensive research on the subject, but I cant seem to find any literature on the compatibility of the KLZE with the G15m-r manual transmission I currently have in my 626. My question is will everything bolt in together or will I have to buy a new transmission in order to install the KLZE? And if the latter is true, what kind of transmission will I need for everything to run smoothly? Thanks, JDogg

    Front left Signal Socket

    Problem Background. So, a while back I got hit on the front left fender and my left turn signal was annihilated. There wasn't much left except part of the signal plug. I bought an after market part, the fit was perfect. Sadly though, something was amiss. When I turn on the lights the left signal turns on bright. When I signal left side the signal blinks dim. So I believe that I received a right side socket with my left side housing. Sadly it is side specific as the connector has a latch. I failed in my due diligence and I didn't mess with things or report it when I should have. I was busy and lazy then. So I don't feel like I have the right to bother the seller to try to get it replaced. I looked up the part on a few locations and it seems to sell for ~$15 USD. Thats about half what I paid for the housing. On to my question. ***EDIT*** I forgot to mention the cost of the shipping is also $15 USD... yay, maybe the Mazda dealership the next town over, none locally, will have it and won't rip me off. ***EDIT OVER*** Question. A) Do you thing its possible to pop the pins on the signal socket connector and re-pin the socket connector to the match the wrong part. B) should I cut and splice the wires to fit the wrong part. or C) should I accept my failure and buy the correct signal socket?

    Turbocharger On A 626 I4?

    Has anyone put a turbo on a 626 I4? People always give me weird looks when I tell them I want to turbo mine. :) Anyway, if someone has, what has worked the best? Was it worth it? I saw a youtube video where they put a turbo on a '91 626 4cyl.
  8. Hello. Some time ago my 2001 Mazda 626 2.0 I4 16v came back from engine repair. Everything was ok, except cruise control that worked before. I found out, that cruise control haven't got a hose (photo - red circle). I've started to look after where it goes and found it. Car mechanic used cruise control vacuum hose for shortcut to Vacuum Control Valve/Vacuum Solenoid Valve (i think) - I marked it with blue color on photos. My problem is to find correct place for this replacement. I was looking on some diagrams but I still have no clue where it should be. I just want my cruise control alive Please, could you check it for me in yours 626's and take a photo if possible? Best regards Update: I think I just solved this. I was watching some YouTube movies from DJDevon3 (seem to be user of this forum) and I saw difference between mine solenoid and his.     Engine Area Problems

    Whats up forum, so two days ago i wanted to push my 93 mazda 626 i4 manual to the test i decide to floor it and was impressed, 5 th gear at 132 ish . The next day i felt a disturbance. Its not that noticabel but i get alot of extra vib at the front. I checked my oils and its fine(2month old oil) dont know what else please help!!!
  11. Hello, I am finally getting back to working on my Mazda 626 after recovering from financial issues due to health insurance. I had a 626 with an intermittent fuel pump that I made an earlier post on and got alot of really helpful info and saw a good video from DJdevon3. Following statements on this forum I also started looking around on Rockauto.com for parts as well as shopping around for good deals. I also decided to check some maintenance stuff since I was already going to be doing car maintenance. I have always been a firm believer in doing it yourself if it is reasonably possible. I decided to check my timing belt and the such as i have close to 150k mi on the car. I got it with about 100k on it. I pulled the valve cover and checked the timing belt and it looks kind of used up. I think it was the original. I decided to change the belt but the local mom and pops shops want ~$1k to do the timing belt alone, not including the water pump which might as well be done with the timing belt. I purchased all the necessary parts to change the water pump timing belt and pullies and i went ahead and got a crank shaft seal as well as the fuel pump parts and a new valve cover gasket, my valve cover was leaking like a sieve. I put the car on jack stands and removed the wheel and splash guard, valve cover and power steering pump are already off, and now I am kind of lost. I am not sure what to do next. This is my first timing belt job on any car. Does anyone know of a good video that covers late model 626 timing belt and water pump jobs? Also, does anyone have any other info that would make this easier?
  12. First all, thank you to everyone on this forum. I started searching on this forum when I got the car and started having issues. I installed a tranny cooler, Hayden 404, in front of the ac condensor. Bypassed the internal radiator cooler completely. I installed a new neutral switch after I read about having start issues and read on the forum the neutral switch could affect the tranny as well.. It was running a lot smoother after installing. In fact, I was hoping and praying that is all that was going on with the car, but no luck. I went ahead and installed the oil cooler. After installing the cooler, the car ran great for almost a half-hour and I figured I had fixed the issue, but sadly it was not meant to be. No check engine lights nor the blinking OD lights. The car has 156K miles. I will add that I bought from a salvage yard, so I really don't the history on the car. I did check the tranny oil, it is clear ruby red with no smell, even with all of these issues. I am looking for what else could I check for. I'm already going to get a ODB 2 scanner to pull any codes, but since the check engine light is NOT coming on, not sure this will help. I am stumped at this point.

    hey, i have a 1998 mazda 626, with the 2.5l v6, well i recently snapped a rod and while looking around found a inline 4 off a 2004 mazda 3, it has the whole front end engine transmission suspension ext, how difficult would it be to swap over?
