  1. Hi people. I'm new at the forum so I don't know if I'm writing this at the right place. I have a Mazda 626 GD 1.8 12valv from 1991 that I bought one year ago. Now i am needing to buy an engine head to repair it because the original is ruined. Im from Portugal. Wath sugestions do you have?
  2. I just started this and am happy to see forums about fixing up Mazda's. I've had my car for four years and have already put a lot of work in it, but it can always use more. Its a bit of a wiring nightmare, so I've had to tiptoe. Under the hood everything works great except for the fuel injection. It likes to die sometimes if I stop too fast and doesn't kick up to freeway speed very fast. I know its expensive to replace because of the pricey parts so I was wondering if it could just be a simple hose that's not quite doing it's job? I'll talk about this later... I want to show you my car baby! The truck is also a 91, but its a Ford ranger. We got it in pretty awful shape and been fixing er up as well. Okay, I know I'm a dork, yes I spray-painted my rims and emblems (they need to be re-done). Its not in as fine condition that I'd like, but hey, I'm a poor kid.
  3. I have a 1991 Mazda626 GT turbo 5 speed which I purchased new in July, 1991. The car is in the Ottawa area and needs work. Included is a 1991 Mazda626 LX automatic parts car. I have enjoyed both vehicles and would hate crush them if there is anyone who would be interested in fixing them up.

  5. I bought a 1991 626, 2.2L NA. It was a high mileage car about 270,000 when bought but it came with a second motor. I just pi'd the original motor 314,159 miles, I redid all the major gaskets and runs strong still. I have the second motor in my garage and I really want a turbo on it. How easy and good idea to pull stuff off a used one?!
  6. Hey guys I just bought this car from my neighbor but it's been sitting for years. I got a new battery plugs and air filter for it. I tried kicking it over and it started for like a couple of seconds but then dies. I continually spray the air box with air cleaner and it does the same thing but won't stay running. I have been messing around with it for a day or 2 and it seems like it wants to go but something's holding it back. I checked the gas gauge it says half tank but when I tried to siphon the old gas nothing came out!! Womp womp. So I put fresh gas in it about 5gal and going on with the same routine and still no burst of life. I changed the plugs by the old ones were completely shot with residue and gunk from sitting. After checking the new ones for any sign of oil,gas or something I can see that theres just build up of dirt and residue on them, so I wiped off and put back in. I wanna get this car running PLEASE HELP ME...
  7. Hello All, I am new to this forum, this is my first post. I searched fuel emission evaporative systems but did not find a specific forum for it so I am starting one. Sorry if it does exist somewhere, please point me to the right direction. I have had a 1991 626 4 door sedan for the past 12 years that I inherited from my girl friend (we've probably put +130K mils); she drives my 2003 Protegée but I've always liked better the 626 which has a 2.2L 4 cyl engine. It has better torque, drives better in the snow and has a better traction and just think it has better lines than the new mazdas... We've had the car in Seattle, Michigan, DC, Ohio and now we just moved to California... The car runs GREAT, I can drive 85 mph on the highway and the car is solid. I've had my time belt replaced twice, it has 254000 miles on it and still is a solid car and has NEVER failed on me. As some of you know we need a "smog test" here. I took it to the shop and they told me that the emissions PAST however there was a major Failure on the Test due to a fuel emission problem so overall the car FAILED the smog test ($68.00) They suggested to bring the car back for a diagnosis which after $125.00 more was: "Perform complete smoke check of evaporative system. Found numerous leaks in the metal lines from fuel tank to engine compartment. The lines are rusted through. The entire undercarriage is severely rusted. Tested another portion of the evaporative system and found it to be blocked behind the firewall, suspect rust to have intruded into line creating blockage. Found fuel tank filler tube and metal fuel delivery tubes to also be severely corroded..." 1. Is this really the end of this great machine even though it still runs great? I get between 26 to 35 mpg! 2. If it might be worth fixing it, can any of those lines be replaced with younger models? or for example from Toyotas that look just the same as my 626? Thoughts any one?   8. hey everybody so i finally bought the green 626 i have under my vehicles and it needs a little bit of work, one of the issues is the rpm gauge isnt working, the previous owner saud his brother changed the dash lights and since then it hasnt worked, i pulled the gauge cluster out and checked the connections and even pulle the rpm gauge out of the cluster and took it apart. nothing seemed to be out of place or unhooked and it still doesnt work, so can anyone help? much thanks everybody -Daniel
