  1. I have a UK 2L 626 auto (made in Hiroshima, I think), which also has the 4EC-AT sticker. Selector Gears in Liverpool say it has a GF4A-EL box, which I believe is a JATCO product (Nissan/Mazda as you will know). Here is a clip from anothe site which adds a little more info: The Complaint Station for Mazda [ View Complaints Archive | Search Archive | Post Your Complaint | Reply | Next | Previous | Up ] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mazda 626 4-cyl auto tranny is a ford CD4E unit....... and it gets worse..... 2. I don't know if this is the normal thing to do do, but I would like to apologise to everybody who had the ill-luck to read the bad tempered rubbish I wrote in my earlier post. Most particularly, I would like to apologise to snailman153624 who was on the receiving end of my rant and if I can figure out how to do it, I will be apologising to him (chauvinistically, I'm assuming male) personally. He would have a perfect right to tell me to lie under the dashboard with my mouth open to catch the drips. Thanks for your help.
  3. I'M GLAD TO SAY WE DON'T SPEAK TO EACH OTHER IN THAT MANNER IN THE UK. DON'T BAN ME, I'LL SAVE YOU THE TROUBLE, THIS IS MY LAST VISIT. BY THE WAY, THE 626 MODELS ALL HAVE THE SAME BODYWORK, BUT OTHER DRIVERS MAY NOT READ ALL THE FORUMS. THAT'S WHY I MULTI-POSTED IT. GOODBYE. PS WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YO ARE?
  4. Hi! All, The rain's leaking into to my passenger footwell, (that's in the left hand footwell to you yanks). When it rains heavily, the water drips from under the dash onto the carpet of my UK spec. 626 I4 saloon (sedan). Anybody had this prob? What did you do to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I would like to thank you for all your most comprehensive contributions. This will make it a lot quicker to read the posts. (The only other one I'd worked out was WTF). Thanks again.
  6. For the benefit of all of us non-techies, would somebody be kind enough to PIN a list of all these terms with their full names and a brief definition. I, and I suspect others would be most grateful. Thanks. '94 626, 4 cyl. 2 litre, GF4A-EL, UK spec.
  7. Snailman, glad to hear your brakes are now OK. I will be trying to get this job done during the next week and will post the result. I've had the car about 2 weeks and so far I love it to death. You've probably heard this one before (you've probably heard them all) but I'll bore you with it anyway. I was driving home and got to the steep hill that we live at the top of, when to my horror I saw clouds of steam in the rear view mirror. A blown head-gasket of course was my first reaction, but the engine was running sweetly and there was no oil film on the radiator water. Since I was low on p
  8. Thanks very much snailman. You're not kidding the Haynes is crappy. After a re-read, I finally found it under "Rear pads" not "Handbrake". I was about to put a lot of cash into the pocket of my local mazda dealer, so thanks for your help and expertise.
  9. '94 UK 626 4cyl. petrol auto. I've uncovered the adjustment nut for the h/brake and there's no thread left. There's plenty of rear pad left - about 1/4 inch, and the brakes work fine (except the h/brake which doesn't hold very well at all, even at 10 clicks). What do I need to do? Incidentally, when I tilt the sunroof (made of metal, not glass), the interior "sunshade" stays put. Isn't it supposed to move? By the way, us Brits got the jap auto, and so far (fingers crossed, it's OK at 62kmiles). Best regards to all.
