  1. The key/lock mechanism in the ignition switch on my '88 626 LX broke and I don't know the name of the part(s) I need to buy and my local mechanic hasn't been any help. It's like one cylinder in there didn't rotate properly at some point. So now I can only insert the tip of the key in the switch. Miraculously, enough of the switch works that I can actually start and stop the engine. But I can't turn the ignition to the complete "Off" position, so the battery drains in a couple of days, and I hate the idea that any kid armed with a Popsicle stick could easily steal my car. I'm happy to buy the whole assembly, but I'd like to have more confidence before I ordering anything online. Any help would be appreciated.
